Tehran, IRNA – The secretary general of Iran’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) said that it had received the second six-million-dose batch of COVID-19 vaccine which is the 23rd consignment of vaccine the body has so far imported.

Mohammad Hassan Qowsian said on Thursday that the society has imported an aggregated amount of 12 million doses of Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine in the last seven days.

The RCS is the main body in Iran to import foreign coronavirus vaccines and has imported 52,390,000 doses since May this year, according to Qowsian.

He said that the society also works with vaccination centers and has a role in administering vaccines, with 22 independent vaccination centers belonging to the society.
