President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said on Wednesday various countries including neighboring nations have shown great enthusiasm for closer cooperation with Iran.
Speaking at a cabinet session, Raeisi said the recent meetings of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York have demonstrated that neighbors and other countries are remarkably prepared and willing for cooperation with Iran.
-- Iran, Russia reach initial understanding to accelerate joint projects
The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said Tehran and Moscow have reached preliminary understanding on a framework to accelerate joint nuclear projects.
“We agreed to establish different mechanisms in the new negotiations with the aim of speeding things up,” Mohammad Eslami told reporters following a meeting with Alexey Likhachev, the director general of Russia’s Rosatom.

Iran’s permanent ambassador to the United Nations called on the Security Council to force Israel to put an immediate end to its acts of aggression against Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Majid Takht-Ravanchi made the remarks on Tuesday during a Security Council meeting on the most recent political and security developments in Syria.

-- War in Afghanistan a ‘Strategic Failure’
The top U.S. military officer called the 20-year war in Afghanistan a “strategic failure” in a testimony to Congress.
Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee pointed to the testimony Tuesday by Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as evidence that President Joe Biden had been untruthful when, in a television interview last month, he suggested the military had not urged him to keep troops in Afghanistan.
-- 700 European Firms Fund Zionist Settlements
Nearly 700 European financial institutions have financial relationships with 50 businesses that are actively involved with illegal Israeli settlements, according to a report published by a cross-regional coalition of Palestinian and European NGOs.
The institutions were found to have billions of dollars worth of relationships with businesses such as Airbnb, TripAdvisor and General Mills, which were among companies concluded by the UN last year to have ties to illegal Zionist settlements.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday appointed Peyman Jebelli as the new head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
Jebelli replaces Abdulali Ali-Asgari, who completed a five-year term, with the Leader thanking the latter for “his tireless and diligent efforts as a faithful and devoted manager”.

-- Iraqi delegation visits Iran seeking expansion of energy ties
An Iraqi delegation headed by the country’s Electricity Minister Majid Mahdi Hantoush visited Tehran on Saturday to discuss the expansion of energy ties with Iran, especially gas imports from the country, Shana reported.
The delegation met with senior Iranian officials including Oil Minister Javad Oji and the Head of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Majid Chegeni.

A legislator on Wednesday criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency for reneging its commitments toward Iran, saying as it had been agreed the IAEA can get access to its surveillance cameras at Iran’s nuclear sites only if the United States rejoins the 2015 nuclear deal and fulfill its obligation.
“But if the United States doesn’t return to the JCPOA, Iran will not give the memory cards to the Agency,” Hadi Beiginejad told the Fars news agency, using the acronym for the nuclear deal.
