President says US sanctions on Iran during pandemic are ‘crimes against humanity’

Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said the US efforts to impose hegemony on other countries have “failed miserably” and Washington’s hegemonic system lacks credibility.
Raeisi made the remarks in an address to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly via video conference on Tuesday night, his first speech at the main policy-making organ of the world body since taking office last month.

- Iran ready to reverse JCPOA countermeasures if US returns to compliance: FM

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Tuesday Iran is ready to roll back its countermeasures taken in response to the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal if the United States returns to full compliance with the multilateral accord verifiably.  
“If others return to their commitments and [the return] is verified, we too are ready to stop our remedial actions,” Amir-Abdollahian told EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell in New York City on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.  

- Yemen forces just 50km away from Marib Province’s capital

 Yemen’s joint defense forces have advanced as far as just 50 kilometers (31 miles) away from the hugely-strategic west-central province of Marib’s capital.  
Reporting on Wednesday, Al Jazeera network said the country’s army and Popular Committees had regained full control over the province’s Harib District that lies to the south of Marib’s capital.

After Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi virtually addressed the 76th United Nations General Assembly, many political analysts commented on the contents of his speech. However, what is interesting is that the authors of the JCPOA are crying over an empty coffin.

To examine this issue, let’s review what the president told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

- Ex-ambassador: From Pakistan’s view Taliban government is not inclusive

In a live interview with the Tehran Times on Tuesday, former Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran says from viewpoint of his country the caretaker Taliban government is not inclusive.

However, Asif Durrani says it depends on defining inclusiveness in a tribal and traditional society like Afghanistan.

“I think we have to look at Afghanistan as per its culture,” the former diplomat notes.

- Container operation rises 13% in Iran’s ports in 5 months yr/yr

As announced by an official with Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), container operation has increased 13 percent in the ports of country during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-August 22), as compared to the same period of time in the past year.

Farhad Montaser Kouhsari, the PMO’s deputy Head for Ports and Economic Affairs, said 906,218 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of container goods have been unloaded and loaded in the country's ports.
