Tehran, IRNA - Any possible agreement between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran will have a positive effect on nuclear talks in Vienna, Austria, an Iranian foreign policy expert believes.

Hassan Beheshtipour told IRNA that IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi's visit to Tehran can help lessen the agency's politicizing the nuclear issue and consolidate Iran's stance in Vienna negotiations.

According to the analyst, Grossi wants to pursue the Islamic Republic to return to its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), give access to offline videos of the IAEA in Iran, and provide its explanation on four sites raised by the agency.

Reports based on facts and figures

The Islamic Republic is of the opinion that if the IAEA conducts in accordance with technical and legal regulations, there will be no problem between Iran and the organization, he said, noting that Grossi is not entitled to express his concern about Iran's nuclear activities, which is not in line with the duties of the IAEA director general.

Warning about repeating the previous experiences, Beheshtipour said that Iran should go ahead with its cooperation with the international agency and try to remove any obstacle in this way.

Foes' attempts

He further argued that such a collaborations between the IAEA and Iran will foil any plot by the enemies of the Islamic Republic, who try to derail nuclear talks and cooperation.

"Any potential agreement between Iran and the IAEA will have positive and direct impact on the Vienna talks and will consolidate Iran's stance in the negotiations," he said, adding, "We should seek to reach consensus with the IAEA in order to avoid excuses."

Alleged four sites

The IAEA and Iran agreed upon the so-called PMD case in November 2015 following the JCPOA, when the UN agency accepted to close the dossier of potential military purpose of Iran's nuclear program, the foreign policy expert noted.

However, the alleged four sites are new issues and the IAEA expects Iran to answer questions on the topic, he said, noting that Tehran tried to clarify the matter, but the agency has not yet accepted the answer, while contamination of the sites is under five percent, which cannot be used for more pressures on the Islamic country.

Vienna talks to help stop politicization

Beheshtipour went on to say that every country needs to cooperate with the IAEA to be able to continue its nuclear work, so given the fact that Iran has been supervised by the agency more than other nations, the constant supervision can stop any excuse for politicizing the country's nuclear program.

Although, creating a link between IAEA-Iran relations and Vienna talks does not seems to be a good act, because the nuclear negotiations in Austria are about revival of the JCPOA, but the IAEA is just entitled to inspect Iranians' nuclear activities and commitments.
