This year the week-long commemoration for international tourism, International Tourism Day, will be held in five selected Iranian provinces, and fortunately Kerman province, is among them, said Fereydoon Fa’ali on Monday.
Pointing out that Kerman province will be the host of provincial and national officials on October 2, , the International Tourism Day, Fa’ali added that the programs arranged for this day are organized according to that motto of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) this year, that is ‘Instrumental Tourism for Comprehensive Development’.
The managing director of Kerman Province Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Office further reiterated that vowing covenant with the martyrs of the Iraqi imposed war, holding the special International Tourism Day Conference, organizing a number of Fam Tours (tours to familiarize people with tourism facilities) sponsoring training workshops, performing traditional rituals, visiting tourism attractions, etc. are among the programs arranged for this day.
In sponsoring the International Tourism Day the capabilities of the private sector, the non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional tourism organizations are used because such groups play important roles in development of the tourism organization in this province, he said.
Fa’ali further noted that the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has been celebrating the International Tourism Day on September 27 every year ever since the Year 1980.
Kerman ranks first among all Iranian provinces in registration of monuments. It has seven internationally registered monuments , including the Bam Citadel (the largest clay structure in the world), the thousands of years old Dast-Kand village of Meymand district of Kerman, the beautiful Shazdeh (Prince) Garden with its unique architectural features, the Lot Desert in Shahdad region of Kerman province, in which the world’s oldest ensign has been found, and three Qanats (series of wells dug to transfer water to many kilometers away).
