Tehran, IRNA – Former Iranian minister of defense said on Sunday that defense exports have doubled in the past Iranian year (ending on March 21) compared with the preceding year.

Brigadier General Amir Hatami made the remarks at his farewell ceremony in Tehran.

Iran today has good ties in defense exports with over 42 countries, the former minister said, adding, "Our drones are welcomed by other countries."

Elaborating on achievements gained by Ministry of Defense under his management, Hatami said that the country has witnessed good successes in the area of ground equipment and in the field of missile and air defense during recent years.

He went on to say that good things have also occurred in the area of electronic war, submarine, and fast vessels.

Due to the support extended to the Resistance axis, the Resistance experiences development in its defense capability today, the former minister stated.

Then, he appreciated all staff and commanders of the Ministry for their efforts and support.

Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Qaraei Ashtiani has recently been appointed as Iran's Minister of Defense.

New Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi took office on August 5 after his victory in the June 18 election across Iran.
