Tehran, IRNA – A Spanish expert and journalist Francisco Jose Saavedra said on Sunday that the US immunity without trial or punishment after the attack on an Iranian Airbus plane that killed 290 passengers is a kind of barbarism.

Expressing regret over the immunity of countries like the US against their criminal acts, in an interview with Hispan TV, Saavedra described these actions as a form of savagery and barbarism.

He added that the existence of a transnational institution to bring justice is essential to have the authority to sanction countries committing criminal acts and to ensure that these types of crimes are not left unpunished and immune.

Flight 655, an Airbus A300, flying over the Persian Gulf, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile from USS Vincennes on 3 July 1988. The attack claimed the lives of 290 civilians, including 66 children, 53 women, and 46 foreigners from six nations.
