Tehran, IRNA – Iranian embassy in Austria said on Sunday that Iran is at the forefront of the fight against illicit drug trafficking, which mainly enters Europe.

The embassy which was writing on its official Twitter account on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, criticized that Iran receives little support for this costly fight.

About 4,000 Iranian police officers have lost their lives and Iran spends $350 million a year on the anti-drug fight, the tweet said.

In an online meeting with his Iranian counterpart on the same day, Max Daniel, the commander of Netherland’s National Police Drug Unit, said that Iran’s acts in the fight against narcotic drugs are commendable.

He voiced his country’s readiness to exchange experiences and sciences with Iran in the areas related with illicit trafficking.
