Iranian delegation led by Special Envoy for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Ebrahim Taherianfard met with his counterpart during an official visit to Islamabad.
Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq in a tweet said during the meeting peace talks and security situation in Afghanistan were discussed.
“Agreed to explore new mechanisms to create an enabling environment for ongoing peace talks & reduction in violence,” he said.
Earlier Ambassador Mohammad Ebrahim Taherianfard met with foreign minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi and discussed matters of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, Afghan peace process and regional security.
This is Taherianfard's second visit to Pakistan as Special Representative on Afghanistan. He accompanied Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on his 11th official visit to Islamabad in late November last year.
Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq also visited Iran in March this year to have consultations with Iranian officials on Afghan peace process.
