In an interview with IRNA, Ebrahim Rahimpour on Tuesday stated that during the 90 years that there had been political relations between Tehran and Tokyo, there was no black record and no major challenges between the two countries.
The trip of the Japanese prime minister to Tehran is taking place at a very important and critical level, and this is for the first time that such a person from Japan at the head of government after the victory of the revolution is traveling to Iran, he noted.
"A reason for Japan's entry into the conflict between Iran and the United States is because they do not like to have another war in the Persian Gulf region and tensions increase from the current level," said the former diplomat explaining the reasons for the visit by the Prime Minister of Japan. “An increase in tensions and the outbreak of war can lead to rising oil prices, the loss of the market for their goods, and a backdrop for their competition with the Chinese”.
Stating that Japan is not reluctant to increase its role in international equations, Rahimpour said, "The visit of the Japanese Prime Minister is being done with the satisfaction of the United States and to take on the role, they have received the green light, both during the FM Zarif’s trip to Tokyo and through diplomatic channels, the coordination has been done.
Pointing out that the Japanese prime minister's visit to Tehran can be important both in bilateral and international affairs, he noted, ”While the trip is important, it should not increase expectations because the tension in Iran-US relations is not in a way that in one trip issues can be resolved, although some tensions can be alleviated and conditions provided for future dealings.
