Tehran, April 27, IRNA - National Olympic Committees of Iran and Croatia signed a cooperation agreement in Tehran on Saturday.

The agreement was signed by Reza Salehi Amiri and Zlatko Matesa, the presidents of National Olympic Committees of Iran and Croatia.

Salehi Amiri said he predicted a good future for sports cooperation between Iran and Croatia.

Noting that some Iranian sports federations are demanding recruiting Croatian coaches and holding training courses by Croatian experts in Iran, Salehi Amiri said: 'Such cooperation will be mutual as we can help them in some fields such as wrestling, weightlifting, karate and wushu while we need to cooperate with Croatian coaches in some other areas such as football, handball, swimming, water polo and basketball.”

He said that holding joint camps is one of the areas for sport cooperation between Iran and Croatia as the time for Olympics 2020 is becoming closer day after another.

The Croatian side, for his part, said that he had visited Iran nearly 20 years ago when he had a different post. Matesa said he well knows Iran which he said is a country with a rich civilization.

He said signing today’s agreement is very important for Croatia.
