Deputy Director for Engineering and Infrastructure Development of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization, Mohammad Reza Allahyar said, 'By utilizing advanced 12 gantry cranes, the container capacity of Shahid Rajaee port increased by about 2 times to 5.7 million 'TUI' containers per year.
The official underlined on Wednesday that with the operation of these machines, the number of these cranes in the port of Shahid Rajaee increased to 30, while the container capacity of this port also reached from 3.5 million TUI (container counting unit; each TEU equal to one 20 feet container) to 5.7 million containers per year.
Member of the Executive Committee and Deputy Director of Engineering and Development of Infrastructure Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization added, 'For the design, construction, transportation, installation, commissioning and operation of these extra-heavy advanced cranes in total 104 million euros have been invested (from the revenues of this organization).'
