Tehran, Feb 13, IRNA – International Boxing Association (AIBA) has accepted that the female Muslim boxers to wear hijab at the international events under the regulations of the body’s Executive Committee, the insidethegames magazine wrote.

Head of Iran Boxing Federation Hossein Soori told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the Islamic gear confirmed by the AIBA had already been presented by Iran, and “this is a great success.”

The Islamic countries, at the head of them Iran, did seriously follow up the case that had positive outcome, Soori said.

According to insidethegames, female Muslim boxers’ uniform can include colors of their countries’ flags.

At Rio 2016, fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad became the first Muslim American woman to wear hijab while competing for the United States in the Olympics, the magazine wrote.
