Tehran, Feb 12, IRNA – The 40th anniversary of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution was commemorated in different cities around the world.

Officials and representatives of different countries attended the ceremonies in Iranian embassies.

The ceremony in Lebanon was attended by Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad-Javad Zarif who is in Beirut to visit Lebanese authorities, hundreds of Lebanese political, cultural, and religious figures, representatives of the Lebanese president, parliament speaker, and several ministers and parliament members.

The representatives of Secretary-general of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah, some Lebanese ministers, political parties, Lebanese Army, and many other authorities attended the meeting, alongside the ambassador of other countries, including, Syria, Russia, Qatar, China, Tunisia, and Romania.

In the ceremony, Zarif appreciated the people of Lebanon to stand by Iranians' freedom-seeking after the revolution, and said that Iran is also proud to have stood by the Lebanon that is an example of democracy and resistance.

He added that Iran owes its peace, security, independence and progress to the Islamic Revolution.

Iranian embassy in Syria held the ceremony in a hotel in Damascus, which was attended by Syrian Vice President Najah Al-Attar, Speaker of the People's Council of Syria Hammouda Youssef Sabbagh, Assistant Regional Secretary of the Syrian Regional Branch of the Ba'ath Party Hilal al-Hilal, political and media adviser to the President of Syria Bouthaina Shaaban, Syrian parliamentarians, and diplomatic delegations to Syria, Palestinian officials, and religious, social and economic elite.

In the ceremony, the Iranian envoy, Javad Torkabadi said that Iran will continue to support Damascus until total annihilation of terrorism in Syria and added that Iran will be a pioneer in reconstruction of Syria, as well.

The Syrian deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Feisal Meqdad, said in the ceremony that the cooperation between Iran and Syria will continue for further victories.

In Oman, the ceremony was attended by Shihab bin Tariq, an advisor to Sultan Qaboos bin Saida, and Mohammed bin Hamad al Rumhi, the minister of oil and gas. Many diplomats and ambassadors of different countries attended the meeting as well.

Iranian Ambassador in Muscat Mohammad-Reza Nouri-Shahroudi said in the ceremony that Iran has tremendously progressed in science and technology after the revolution and added that the country has also proved it doesn't accept the language of threat and intimidation.

In Ankara, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Cahit Turan, many members of the Turkish parliament, politicians, representatives of the Turkish Army, and diplomatic delegations of other countries attended the ceremony.

Turan made a speech and said that Iran and Turkey have deep historical relations and mutual understanding, and added that the relations between the two countries become stronger and stronger every day.

The ceremony in London was attended by many British political figures, including the former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, many diplomats from other counties, such as China, Japan and Russia, and some Iranians residing in the UK.

The commemoration ceremonies of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution were held in other countries as well, including, Romania, Armenia, Azerbaijan Republic, Belarus, Greece, Jordan, Serbia, Thailand, Georgia, and North Korea.
