Baku, Jan 17, IRNA – Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said on Thursday that borders between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic are so calm and stable and this security make people's shuttle and do trade exchanges reciprocally in a safe manner.

In a press conference in Baku on Thursday, General Baqeri told reporters that by close cooperation and wide communication between border guard forces of the two countries, common borders are becoming more stable and secure.

He pointed to his meetings with president, prime minister, defense minister and parliament speaker of Azerbaijan Republic on Wednesday and Thursday, and said that good and useful negotiations were held between military delegations of the two republics and important achievements are to increase military relations between the two countries.

General Bagheri added that bilateral relations between the two neighborly states are not adequate at all and they should develop multi folded time.

'By developing north-south corridor and completing remaining projects like Rasht-Astara Railways, economic ties could be expanded between the two countries,' he added.

General Baqeri further said Iran decisively supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan Republic.

He pointed to signed Caspian Sea Legal Regime between littoral states, and added Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have no problem in this regard and naval forces of the two states are to hold joint exercises in the Caspian Sea.

Major General Mohammad Baqeri arrived in Baku on Wednesday on a 2-day visit .
