Over the past four years remarkable activities have been carried out by the knowledge-based companies, and it is predictable that science and the technology-based entrepreneurship will soon become Iran's leading economy power, Sorena Sattari said at the 35th World Conference on Science and Technology Parks that kicked off in Isfahan on Monday.
Referring to the scientific and economic situation in the world which relies on new concepts, Sattari added, 'Traditional businesses are gradually being replaced by startups, and Science and Research Parks and Towns will play a key role in economy.
He pointed to the necessity of making changes in oil-based economy, and said over the past years, Iranian knowledge-based companies have carried out special activities in the country and around the world.
Referring to the rapid growth of start-ups, Sattari said, 'In the coming five years, the most successful companies will be the startups that are engaged with entrepreneurship and involve the younger generation.'
Highlighting the key role of human resources in new fields of sciences and technologies, he said that Iran has performed well in supporting and investing in human resources.
The 35th World Conference on Science and Technology Parks, hosted by Iran, started work in Isfahan's Science and Research Town (ISTT) on Monday. The event is being attended by the country's minister of science, research and technology.
The event was also attended by some foreign officials, including the secretary general of International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), Afghanistan's minister of higher education, ambassadors of more than 30 countries and experts of Science and Technology Parks from 50 countries.
At the conference, titled 'Towards sustainable cities and communities: fostering innovation ecosystems', 53 articles will be chosen and 27 articles will be presented orally out of 158 papers submitted from 30 countries.
