Khorramshahr, Dec 30, IRNA – Launching Khorramshahr-Sohar shipping line will boost trade ties between Iran and Oman, Omani envoy to Iran Saud bin Ahmad Khalid al-Barwani said.

Khalid al-Barwani made the remarks on Saturday on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of Khorramshahr-Sohar shipping line.

“It will pave the way for more economic and trade cooperation between two countries,” he said

Khalid al-Barwani also expressed the hope for opening direct flights between Iran and Oman.

Meanwhile, chairman of Iran-Oman joint chamber of commerce Mohsen Zarrabi said the trade volume between Iran and Oman reached $540m last year.

“The figure is predicted to mount to $5b in four years,” he said.

“Launching Bushehr-Sohar shipping line is also on the agenda,” he added.

Sohar Port and Freezone is a deep-sea Port and Freezone in the Sultanate of Oman, managed by Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC), a 50:50 joint venture between the Port of Rotterdam and the Sultanate of Oman.
