Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Import of natural gas from Turkmenistan is conditional and Iran is going to continue buying the commodity from the country if it decreases the price, Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hamidreza Araqi said on Friday.

Speaking to IRNA, deputy minister of petroleum for gas affairs noted that if Ashgabat do not accept Iran conditions, the Islamic Republic will file suit against Turkmenistan in the International Court of Arbitration for cutting the gas supply to Iran over the previous winter.

Preparations have been made for referring the case to the International Court of Arbitration, Araqi added.

Answering a question on the fines that Turkmenistan should pay to Iran for cutting the gas supply, he said that, Iran has submitted its claim in this regard to Ashgabat.

Gas swap from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Republic using the Iran territory is continuing, he added.
