In a meeting with newly appointed Ecuadorian ambassador to Tehran Umberto Vinuesa Rodriguez, the president said that very good decisions have been made to upgrade the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Iran and Ecuador have many enemies who do not want the two countries to stand by each other and make progress, Ahmadinejad added.
"We have to make every effort to establish closer and wide relations to thwart the ill-wishers' pressures."
In the meantime, Umberto Vinuesa Rodriguez submitted his credentials to the president.
The ambassador said that Islamic Republic of Iran is an important and influential country in the region and the world and "we are determined to utilize the existing capacities and potentials to further expand bilateral relations."
