Kerman, June 19, IRNA – Iran has become an international power and that is why enemies are concerned about its scientific progresses in all fields including the peaceful nuclear technology, a senior official said on Wednesday.

Speaking to a gathering of local people in this central southern province, Saeed Jalili, a member of Strategic Counicl on Foreign Relations, noted that all international observers have acknowledged that Iran is currently a major player and powerful country in the region.

Criticizing the current world order, he added that Islamic Republic's nuclear progresses proved that the anit-Iran sanctions and pressures have failed to affect the Iranian people's resolve.

Iran is not seeking a nuclear bomb and its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes, Jalili, former chief nuclear negotiator reiterated.

He underlined that according to Islamic teachings, production and use of nuclear bombs are forbidden (Haram).

Iran's power has roots in the Islamic Revolution's discourse not its nuclear bombs, Jalili stressed.

Referring to the Western efforts to sow discord among Iranians, Jalili underlined that Iran's 2013 presidential elections which brought President Hassan Rouhani to power has neutralized enemy plots.
