The latest figures from the Statistical Center of Iran regarding the literacy rate of the Iranian population aged 6 years and older show that the overall literacy rate in the Islamic country has grown from 87.9% in 2017 to 90.4% in 2022. According to the report, the literacy rate among men is 90.4%, while among women is 87.1%; however, the literacy rate among women in urban areas is estimated at 90%, while in rural areas it stands at 77.8%.
According to data that the Statistical Center of Iran obtained from the Ministry of Education, the statistics also indicate that the per capita educational spaces in the country increased from 5.17 square meters in the Iranian academic year of 2017-2018 to 5.22 square meters in the academic year of 2021-2022.
